30th October, 2008. 7:57 pm. Didn't wait as long thit time

So I didn't wait nearly as long to post another up date.

Last weekend I went to a one day event of a NERO derivative. It was a good time. I had not played in a really long time and it was way good to get out and play. I now have NERO fever though, and can't wait until I can go play again. I was tossing around the idea of going to NPC a game that is this week at the Hartford chapter. The camp site is only about 20 minuets from my apartment, and from what I have heard they run a really good game. The other really nice thing is cause it is so close I figured I would just go for Saturday and come home when plot closes and sleep in my own bed :-) (I am getting to old to sleep on cots at the camp site) Alas, when I told my better half I wanted to go play again he got the wow-your-a-nerd look and told me he would take me to New York instead. I have to say I am very torn about what to do. In the end we decided to go check out New York, but I have a game weekend in Mid November that I am going to go to. It is not a NERO LARP but they run a good game and the system is pretty easy to learn, and the people are really cool, so I am looking forward to it.

I am still trying to figure out when I can make it back to WAR for a game. I have set aside $300 for a ticket to fly in to Columbus for a game next year. SO some game in 2009 Uices will just wander into town *wink* and be looking for a bed. My guess is I will shoot for a Vargus game just cause that camp is closest to Columbus and I know I won't be able to get in before about 10pm if I try to fly out after work. I will most likely need a ride from the airport and will post on the boards to track one down.

Well work is going well too. I dont have to travel again until mid-November. I am going to go to Raleigh NC for a three day seminar of TYCO splices and terminals. I think it will be interesting.

Well I am working on baking cookies so I best pay attention to that or I will end up burning them all to nothing (and potential taking my apartment down with the cookies).

OH and HAPPY Halloween every one!

I am board out of my mind. How sad is that. On shore with nothing really to do. I was supposed to go offshore on Monday but dew to bad weather that did not happen. Looks like I’ll be leaving Friday… What a teas..

I have decided that I like off shore exponentially more then on. I think it is cause off shore I have people I can talk with on a regular basis and see day after day. Some of the rig hands are close to my age so I have people to chat with. When I am on shore I so play the loner card. The people I do like running with ether work at the SLB so it is hit or miss if they are around, or they live ungodly far away so getting together for a beer is not really an option. It kind of sucks. I guess that this whole thing though is part of moving away and starting over. I think back to what college was like and it was not nerly as hard adjusting to college life as it is adjusting to real life. Adjusting to college was easy, this is hard.

14th April, 2007. 4:53 am. Home bound

So I am officially, on the manifest now for the 16th. This means I actually get to go back to dry land. When I finally get home I will have spent 26 days off shore. That is a long time to be working. A really long time. 26 days of 12-18 hour shifts. Crazy. I figured it out and in march looking at just my salary I made about 16$/hour. I figure that's not to bad. I need to get my first promotion though. Then I get rig days and that will be great!

I am so looking forward to the 20th. I am heading to the MTN event. I know Gally is that weekend too. I wish I could be in two places at once. I will have to settle though for the MTN event. I'll be bouncing around with a group of guys I meet at the Legends event last month. It should be a good time. They promised to keep Uisce from getting killed. Hey if things go well Uisce maybe showing up to Vargus with a pair of bunnies. That is a huge if though so please don't get to pumped. Odds are better that a pair of bunnies will be showing up with no gypsy.

I got a cloak for the event it is supposed to be in the 50's and my blood has so thinned from being down here. No luck on a new bodice though *grumbles*. Guess that will have to wait for another time. When I get home I have some serious packet making to do. I only have a hand full and those are my supper good ones I use for practicing in the house. *Grins*

8th April, 2007. 2:36 pm. I NEED NERO HELP

Ok so I am going to appeal to you all for some help. Mostly the people who take a look at my live journal are NERO people so where better then to ask for not aid. I am hoping to go a NEROing the weekend of the 20th in the MTN chapter (any one want to go Uisce will be there). They are holding a 3 or 4 day event. Well I want to get a new costume together for this thing. I know, I know, I did not leave myself with much time but then again I am bad at planning. I really, really, really, really, (get the idea) want to find just a plane black leather waist cincher. I have been looking on line now for two days and can find nothing!! Does anyone have any idea a good place to look? I know that some one has to make them I just can’t find who it is!! Thanks for any help!!!

4th April, 2007. 6:26 am. crazyness

So the strangest thing happened today. There was a pair of finches on the deck of the rig. Now this may not sound too odd until you realizes that I am out in 7000 ft deep water. They looked so out of place it was ridiculous. I felt bad for them as well. If a bird could have a deer in the head light look on there faces these two most certainly did. I kind of sympathizes with them. I am not so hot with this idea of not know when I am going to see dry land again. Kind of makes me a little leery.

It is the weirdest thing looking out over the water. It just goes on for ever. There are no distinguishing land marks, just wide open blueness that stretches for eternity. I wonder if this is what being in water world would be like. No land anywhere just the open blueness forever and ever. It is a beautiful sight to behold, awesome really, and so very humbling.

When you think about it this man made floating island holds so many engineering marvels it is crazy. There is a thruster positing system keeping us to a fixed latitude and longitude to the seconds place. We are drilling, drilling, some 22,000ft into the ground which is 7000ft below sea level at rates of penetration of close to 150 ft per hour. Now you need to understand something about our drilling. We have a large pipe that runs from the drill floor to the sea floor that dose not waver more the few degrees. Inside this pipe is our drill string. Though this pipe we transport mud, cutting, our signal (for all the realtime measurements, you don’t even want to get me started with that and how crazy it is). On board there is one of the submersible robots (you know the ones you see no the discovery channel). This really is a floating city that at any time has at least 100 residents. It is just crazyness.

And when you stop to think about it this place is humbling too. (Don’t worry I won’t get all “fear the higher powers” on you that is just not my style) When you look out over the blue it is painfully obvious just how small you really are. It is frighten just how easy you can be swept away and lost to the blue. There would be no way to find you once you were lost to it either. The blue is all encompassing and never ending. Yet you can see so clearly though it to depths that is surprising and empowering. The sea is not the only one to provide you with an overwhelming experience. The sun rises and set are always a sight to behold. I only wish I could get a few snap shots of it. I know though, a picture could never do the brilliance of the living portraits justice. The colors of crimsons reds, warm purples, burning oranges could never really be caught on camera. I pain to know what the start would look like out here. You can’t see them because this man made floating city is so well illuminated it blots out the timidly twinkling lights of the sky. It is all so amazing. I never would have guesses this is where I would be at 24.

Current mood: curious.

26th March, 2007. 10:30 am. Message in a bottel

Hello there,

Its been a long time since I last jumped on here to keep tabs on those of you who I keep tabs on. It has been even longer since I last poseted so those of you who keep tabs on me can do so. So I have some free time here and I though I would toss up something to stay in touch and what not. I would have done it sooner but things have been crazy of late. I guess that is how it will just about always be though and I just have to get used to it.

I spent last week out on Costal-22. It is a barge rig that is under construction. That was kind of weird to be out there for that. For one barge rigs are usually in very shallow water, no deeper then about 15ft. Also barge rigs usually do not have accommodation for women so it is very rare that we (being women) get sent out to them. They wanted us to come out to do a rig up, but because of the construction going on it took a whole lot longer then it should have. It was a good learning experience though because I had never been on a rig up before.

After getting back from Costal-22 I found myself doing the ‘hurry up and wait game’. It took a few days and I was shipped off to Ensco 7500. I really like it out here. This is considered a deep water rig as we are in 7000ft of water. The water is so crazy blue I can’t hardly believe it. It was kind of weird being out here the first few days because the rig floats. As a result it kind of bobs with the waves and it took me a while before I could walk around with out kind of stumbling about. I got used to it though and now can ever run on the tread mill without losing my balance. I count myself lucky that I didn’t get sea sick. We haven’t had any really bad weather yet. I’ll be interested to see how much the rig will bob around in a strong storm when the water is good and choppy.

Once I got out there things kind of slowed down. We aren’t drilling yet so it is a lot of hurry up and wait. They are in the porcess of caping off the last well that was drilled. We are then going to take a short cruse, like about 60-100ft from where we are now, to positoin ourselves over then next well head. We should be picking up BHA some time late tongith early tomarrwo morning. With all this down time I am getting a good chance to refresh myself with what I need to do when out here. I found I kind of forgot most of the usefully stuff I learned before going to school. Guess that is how it goes though.

Well I hope all is well. Take care
Always

Geuss this stuff kind of sticks with you even if you try to forget it.

You scored as Roman Catholic. You are Roman Catholic. Church tradition and ecclesial authority are hugely important, and the most important part of worship for you is mass. As the Mother of God, Mary is important in your theology, and as the communion of saints includes the living and the dead, you can also ask the saints to intercede for you.

12th February, 2007. 8:32 am. Hello all,

I know it has been a while but things have been hectic. Of course it seems thing are ALWYAS hectic. I guess that is part of growing up.... There is never enough time...

Classes are plugging along. Two more weeks, or 11 more days, or approximately 77 hours, or 4620 minutes or 277200 seconds... Geuss it all depends how you want to look at it. I king of think the 11 days is the easiest to swallow. But I don't want to give you the impression that I am counting... Cause I am not I just have 77 hours of class. I am really looking froward to seeing my patents. I haven't seen them since the funeral and will be good to see them on happier terms. The other great thing is in another 4620 minutes I will have my SLB diploma and be one step closer to my first promotion. Ya for that!!

Well I have to get set up for class.... Ya for only having 277200 seconds left.

Love you all..
Jules

Oh and check this out. I know that they have gone main stream a bit but they are still fun.

So today was such a cool day. WE went to Frys over lunch and I found Firefly! I latterly jumped up and down and squealed when I found it. I was so excited.

This week as a whole will be kind of crazy. We have a test of Friday and we wont start the material until tomorrow!! Such crazyness. Well I am going to cut this supper short so I can watch some Firefly!!! Ya for DVDs!!

25th January, 2007. 4:13 pm.

Things are so much better today then they have been in weeks. The sun finally came out. We had 13 days straight of rain. I really wasn't to sure if I could take that much more of rain, and then... The sun came out to shine... My mood has improved 1000s times fold... I love the sun.

I am still trying to figure out how to get to a park... I am strongly considering renting a car a SUV of some kind and going camping in it. Screw the tent the SUV should be comfy enough to sleep in...

On a random note....I am also considering investing in a sewing machine... I like sewing, I am not good at it but I like doing it. And if I did get one I could work on a new dress for Llewella (don't know when I'll play her again, but when I do I want a new dress) I also could start working on a costume for my new character for down here.

I am again playing a stone elf (I know I should be divers but I really really like playing stone elfs.) I am leaning toward making her a rouge or templar. Probaly a rouge just for grins. I figure I will need to NPC a little befor I can get this character approved. She is going to have some real issues which will make for great role play. I plan to write her as an ex-slave.. I dont think I will have her had been broken entirly but she will most defiantly have issues as a result of her slave hood... Well I gota get back to work. I am getting far to good at killing time on line!!!

Current mood: hyper.
